Want killer tunes wherever you go? Why not bring them on your wrist?!
For all you Android smartwatch users out there, Spotify is releasing a new and improved Wear OS app for you to listen to your favorite songs and artists in easier ways than before.
Here’s how Spotify’s senior product developer Mikael Ericsson describes it on the Spotify blog:
“We’re excited to bring improved on-the-go-access to your favorite music and podcasts to millions of Spotify users on Wear OS by Google smartwatches… Being able to easily access, control, and connect music directly from your wrist opens up a world of new opportunities.”
The new Wear OS app does exactly that, making it even easier to stream tunes or podcasts from your Spotify account, without having to fumble for your smartphone.
Previously, only third-party apps were available to Spotify users on Google Wear OS devices. These apps generally compiled various streaming services into a singular app. Now, users will be able to access their self-curated Spotify playlists, as well as Spotify’s provided Daily Mixes, in a smartwatch app specifically designed by the streaming service.
The new app also allows users to seamlessly pair their smartwatch with their Bluetooth devices through Spotify Connect. This means that the ability to stream your songs and playlists to speakers beyond your headphones will be just one touch away.
Spotify also announced the new app will be pre-installed on “Fossil Gen 4 smartwatches and Michael Kors Access Runway smartwatches starting in November,” according to a report from the Verge. For those with previous models of Wear OS smartwatches, users can download the free app from the Google Play store.
